Experience the Highlights from 2014!
The Cancer Caring Center launched the PITTSBURGH ROCK ‘N ROLL LEGENDS AWARDS in a big way on January 23, 2014, with an extravaganza at the Hard Rock Cafe, Station Square, where nationally recognized concert promoter Rich Engler, former co-owner of Pittsburgh’s DiCesare-Engler Productions, was inducted as the inaugural member. Rich fittingly received the award from his long ago employee, Joel Peresman, now President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.
It was a great night for Pittsburgh rock and roll, for Rich and for guests, who got “up close and personal” with legendary local rockers Joe Grushecky, Joffo Simmons and Art Nardini of the Houserockers, Donnie Iris, Hermie Granati, B.E. Taylor and Rick Witkowski of the B.E. Taylor Band and Scott Blasey from the Clarks.
Combined with a fantastic auction of prizes including memorabilia signed by many nationally recognized musicians, a trip to see the David Letterman show in NYC, a luscious dinner for eight prepared by Rich and Cindy Engler, and a guitar signed by the entire All Star Band, it was indeed a memorable night that no one will soon forget. The night of rockin’ revelry emceed by former DJ Steve Hansen and WDVE’s Sean McDowell was a great success, setting the stage for an even bigger and better event in year two, and a “must attend” evening for anyone in Western PA who loves their rock and roll!
